Joachim Beyer Publishing House

The Joachim Beyer Verlag is a publishing house in Lower Franconia Eltmann , founded in 1972, publishes books of all kinds, in particular on the subject of chess . Well-known authors of the publishing house in the younger years are Artur Jussupow , Mark Dworezki , Wolfgang Uhlmann , Karsten Müller , Jonathan Carlstedt , Daniel King , John Nunn and Jerzy Konikowski , but also books by the world chess champions José Raúl Capablanca , Max Euwe , Alexander Aljechin , Anatoli Karpow , Robert James Fischer and Emanuel Lasker . Books by the former chess greats Kurt Richter , David Bronstein and Alexander Koblenz have also been published.

In the 2011 financial year, the publisher's turnover amounted to 400,000 euros. In 1987, Joachim Beyer Verlag took over the chess division of Walter de Gruyter . In 2012 the chess division of the publishing house was bought by the Ullrich chess mail order company. The range available in 2017 comprised over 170 titles by around 60 authors, mostly in German.

The publisher was founded by Joachim Beyer (born September 18, 1931 in Leipzig). He was a grandson of Hermann Beyer, who took over C. Bange Verlag in 1898 .
