Joachim Friedrich Wilhelm Neander von Petersheiden
Joachim Friedrich Wilhelm Neander , from 1801 Neander von Petersheiden , (born April 24, 1743 in Labes in Western Pomerania; † October 27, 1817 in Berlin ) was Prussian major general and most recently inspector of the artillery . He was raised to the nobility on January 22, 1801 .
Life
origin
His parents were Christian Philipp Neander (* 1712; † May 15, 1762) and his wife Charlotte Christiane Dittmar. His brother Johann Christoph († October 5, 1821) died as a colonel and director of the artillery and engineering school , another brother Gottlieb Karl (* December 5, 1761; † April 30, 1842) died as captain of the artillery.
Military career
On March 10, 1762, he joined the Prussian artillery as a gunner . During the already ongoing Seven Years' War , he fought in the siege of Schweidnitz , in the battle of Reichenbach and in the battle of Burkersdorf. In 1763 he was promoted to fireworks .
On September 15, 1764 he became second lieutenant and also took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession as such in 1778/79 . Then on September 3, 1783, he was appointed Premier Lieutenant in the 3rd Artillery Regiment. On December 1, 1786 he was staff captain and on November 22, 1792 captain and company commander. In the First Coalition War he fought in the siege of Mainz (1793) . After the war he became major on April 11, 1795. He turned down an offer to switch to Hesse-Kassel services. For his services he was then raised to the nobility on January 22, 1801. Shortly thereafter, on May 7, 1801, he became a lieutenant colonel and on May 20, 1805, a colonel. He also took part in the Fourth Coalition War. After the Peace of Tilsit he became inspector of the artillery on September 8, 1807. On December 25, 1808 he was transferred to the 3rd Division of the General War Department as director. He was appointed major general on June 22, 1810, but had to resign from the post of director. On August 11, 1810, he also resigned from the artillery inspection. On March 10, 1812, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class , before he retired on January 20, 1813 with a pension of 1200 thalers. But in preparation for the wars of liberation , he took over the inspection of weapons and equipment on March 6, 1813. After the war on September 7, 1814, he was given retirement.
He died on October 27, 1817 in Berlin and was buried in the garrison cemetery on October 30, 1817 .

On October 27, 1795 he married Johanna Friederike von Wenzel (* October 1, 1747 - January 15, 1815) widowed von Merkatz .
