biography
Joachim Krause-Wichmann was a member of the Saarland delegation at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki . Together with his brother Hans, as well as Werner Biel and Hanns Peters , he started in the four without a helmsman . The crew won their lead against the favored boats from Italy and Norway. In the semi-finals and in the repechage, however, the four rowers were narrowly defeated and thus missed the final.
At the German Championships in 1954, he took third place with Werner Häring in a double without a helmsman . A year later he and his brother Hans finished second in a two-man with helmsman .
