Joachim Sattler

Joachim Sattler (born August 21, 1899 in Affolterbach im Odenwald , † July 15, 1984 in Erbach ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Joachim Sattler, who comes from Affolterbach in the Odenwald, initially worked as a primary school teacher before Siegfried Wagner discovered his voice . After completing his vocal training with Carl Beines in Darmstadt , he made his debut in 1926 as Claudio in Richard Wagner's ban on love at the opera house in Wuppertal . In 1929 Sattler was signed to the Darmstadt State Theater , in 1937 he received an engagement at the Hamburg State Opera , in 1939 he switched to the Semperoper in Dresden as a member of the ensemble , and in 1941 he took up an engagement at the Vienna State Opera that lasted until 1944.

In 1928, 1929 and 1931 Joachim Sattler appeared as Siegfried in the Ring cycle at the Bayreuth Festival . In addition, Sattler took part in the Tannhäuser production by Siegfried Wagner there in 1930 . Joachim Sattler made guest appearances at the Grand Opéra in Paris in 1938 and 1941 . In the years 1947 to 1950 he was again committed to the Hamburg State Opera.

Joachim Sattler, one of Richard Strauss ' favorite singers , stood out in particular as a Wagner interpreter and heroic tenor.

In 1972, the Kammersänger-Joachim-Sattler-Weg was named after him in Affolterbach . Joachim Sattler died in 1984 just before the age of 85 in the district hospital in Erbach.
