Although the majority of the countries in the world do not recognize the Democratic Arab Republic of the Sahara (DARS), also known as Western Sahara , under international law , the following 86 countries or areas have diplomatic relations with the area. The Organization of the African Union also recognizes the sovereignty of Western Sahara.
