Joanna Beata Michlic
Joanna Beata Michlic , also Joanna Michlic-Coren (* in Łódź , Poland ) is a Polish historian who deals with the history of the Jews in Poland and the Holocaust .
Life
Michlic received her Licencjat from the University of Łódź and her Masters from the University of London . Michlic received his doctorate in 2000 from the University of London with a thesis on Ethnic nationalism and the myth of the threatening other: the case of Poland and perceptions of its Jewish minority from the late nineteenth century to the modern period . Since 2007 Michlic was Professor of Holocaust Studies and Ethics at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania , USA . From 2008 Michlic worked at the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute at Brandeis University in Waltham (Massachusetts) , USA. There she founded the project Families, Children and the Holocaust. In 2013 she moved to the University of Bristol in England .
Michlic teaches at Leo Baeck College in London . She is an Honorary Senior Research Associate at the UCL Center for Studies on Collective Violence, Holocaust and Genocide and an Honorary Senior Associate at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies in London.

- 2012 a Rothschild Foundation (Hanadiv) Europe Visiting Fellowship for Birkbeck College , London
- 2013/2014 a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award at the University of Haifa
- 2016 Sharon Abramson Research Grant for Holocaust Studies from the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University , Illinois , USA
- 2016 and 2017 a fellowship at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw
Michlic's proposal for a workshop on “Representations of Polish Rescuers of Jews in a Comparative Perspective: Lessons from the Holocaust for Contemporary Europe” was accepted for the summer workshop program of the Global Education Outreach Program (GEOP). This program takes place in the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw . Scientists from Poland, the USA, Germany and Lithuania take part.
Research focus
Michlic's research focus is Polish anti-Semitism before, during and after World War II .
