Jobst-Hubertus Bauer (born March 4, 1945 in Gera ) is a German lawyer .

Life

After the war, Bauer grew up in Bad Wildungen in northern Hesse and Grenzach in southern Baden . After graduating from high school in Rheinfelden in March 1966, he spent two years with the Bundeswehr in Immendingen , which he left as a lieutenant in the reserve . Bauer studied law from 1968 to 1971 at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau , where he passed the first state examination. Since 1968 he has been a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg . The second state examination followed in 1974 with the subsequent doctorate to become Dr. jur. , also at the University of Freiburg. From August 1975 to March 2020 he was a lawyer at the law firm Gleiss Lutz . Following his partnership (1980 to 2014), he was of counsel for Gleiss Lutz in the Stuttgart office until March 2020 . He has been working as an individual lawyer since April 2020, fulfilling his legal residency obligation in the offices of Gleiss Lutz, Stuttgart. In addition, since April 15, 2010, Bauer has been honorary professor at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .

Bauer played a key role in building up labor law at Gleiss Lutz with around 50 lawyers. He himself advises on individual and collective labor law , especially in negotiations with works councils and trade unions . Another focus of his work is advising supervisory boards, board members and executives on the conclusion, implementation and termination of employment relationships.

From 1983 to March 2020, Bauer was legal advisor / negotiator of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, Landesverband Baden-Württemberg eV and from 1993 to June 2019 managing director of the Employers' Association of Electricity Works Baden-Württemberg eV

Bauer was a co-founder of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), of which he is still a member and whose board he was on from 1998 to 2009.

Bauer has been a member of the Labor Law Working Group, which he co-founded in the German Lawyers' Association (DAV) since 1981, and was a member of its executive committee from 1990 to 2013, as chairman since 2000.

Bauer is or was still a member of:

  • Labor law committee of the German Bar Association (DAV) from 1981 to 2012
  • Association committee of the German Labor Court Association from 1990 to 2020
  • Discussion group labor law and the labor law committee of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) since 1995 and 2003 to 2020 respectively
  • Full board member of the Stuttgart Bar Association from 1990 to 2006
  • International Industrial Relations Association
  • International Society for the Law of Labor and Social Security

In 2010, Bauer was honored with a festschrift on the occasion of his 65th birthday.

In 2015, the Haufe Verlag personnel magazine inducted Bauer into the HR scene 's Hall of Fame as the first labor lawyer .

At the 69th German Lawyers' Day on June 7, 2018, the German Lawyers Association awarded Bauer the Hans-Dahs plaque for his services to the implementation of the social rule of law in the field of justice. This is the highest distinction that the German legal profession bestows every two or three years.
