Jobst Christoph von Römer (Bergrat)

Jobst Christoph von Römer (* 1769; † September 6, 1838 ) was an electoral Saxon and royal Saxon senior tax collector and mountain commissioner as well as a lord of the Löthain estate in what is now the district of Meißen .

Life

He came from the old Meißnischen family Römer , which was closely connected to the Saxon mining industry. His father was the chamberlain Hans Rudolph von Römer († 1800) on Neumark, whose youngest son he was.

From 1794 to 1800, Römer headed the Marienberg Mining Authority District as a mining master . Therefore, in 1836 he donated 100 thalers to the Marienberger Knappschaftskasse . The interest of the "Römerschen Gestift" (Römersche Stiftung) was distributed every year on Christmas Eve to all recipients of alms of the miners who are over 70 years old .

From 1804 to 1838 he was Bergkommissionsrat and hybrid floor - inspector at Zinnerzbergbau in Altenberg . In his honor, the new main shaft on the Altenberg floor, sunk in 1837, was named “Römer-Schacht”. The Altenberger Römerstraße was named after the family .

After the childless death of his uncle Ernst August von Römer in 1814, he inherited a portion of his manor Nausitz .
