Johan Sjöstrand (born February 26, 1987 in Skövde ) is a Swedish handball player .

Career

society

Sjöstrand moved from HK Country to IFK Skövde HK in 2003 . From 2005 the goalkeeper stood between the posts a total of 70 times in the Elitserien . In the 2009/10 season he played for the German Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt . Then Sjöstrand moved to the Spanish club FC Barcelona , where he succeeded David Barrufet . With Barcelona he won the championship in 2011 and 2012 and the EHF Champions League in 2011 . After his contract with Barcelona was terminated in September 2012, he signed a contract with Danish first division club Aalborg Håndbold . With Aalborg he won the Danish championship in 2013. From 2013 Sjöstrand played for the German record champions THW Kiel , with whom he won the German championship in 2014 and 2015 and the DHB Supercup in 2014. At the beginning of 2015 Sjöstrand fell ill with Malta fever , which is why he had to take a break from March 2015 until the end of the 2014/15 season. From the 2015/16 season he guarded the gate of MT Melsungen .

For the 2020/21 season, Sjöstrand moved to the Danish first division club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg , with whom he signed a three-year contract.

National team

Sjöstrand has played 96 games for the Swedish national team . Previously he was active in the Swedish youth and junior national team. In 2007 he won the Junior World Championship with the national team. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he won the silver medal with Sweden.
