He sent Birkenstock for a year for further training with Jean-Baptiste Volumier (1670–1728), a French violinist in the royal chapel in Dresden . He then received violin lessons from Carlo Fiorelli in Bayreuth and from François Duval (1672–1728) in Paris , one of the Vingt-quatre Violons du Roy . In 1709 he got a job in the Kassel court orchestra and in 1721 became its solo violinist. In the following years he toured Germany, France and the Netherlands. In 1722 his first works were published by Le Cène in Amsterdam . After the death of the Duke of Kassel in 1730, he became court music director of the Grand Duke of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , and died only three years later.
