Johann Andreas Josef von der Borch , Polish Jan Jędrzej Józef Borch (* 1715 - † October 3, 1780 in Warsaw ) was a Polish Grand Chancellor .

Life

Von der Borch was a member of the Courland branch of the noble family Borch-Lubeschütz . His parents were Georg Gotthard von der Borch (1683-1722) and Ludwika von Stock.

Borch was a Polish patriot and a member of the Bar Confederation . In 1767 he was honored with the Order of Saint Stanislaus and the following year with the Order of the White Eagle . It was in 1775 Voivode of Livonia province and 1780 chancellor of the crown.

In Warsaw, Ulica Miodowa 17/19 a brick was at the beginning of the 18th century Baroque palace built. Around 1780 Borch had the central building, which he had bought from the Polish-Saxon diplomat Andrzej de Riacour (1722–1794), rebuilt in a classicist style based on a design by Domenico Merlini . The palace has since been named Borch Palace after him .
