Johann Arbogast von Annenberg (* around 1590 in Latsch in Tyrol ; † June 28, 1645 in Glatz ) was commandant of Glatz and from 1633–1645 governor of the county of Glatz .

Life

Johann Arbogast came from the Tyrolean noble family von Annenberg . He was a loyal follower of the Habsburgs and served the Bishop of Breslau Archduke Karl of Austria as a chamberlain. In 1616 he married Juliana von Damitz , widow of Freiherr Friedrich von Tschirnhaus . Through the marriage he came to the Schönfeld rule in the county of Glatz, which, however, a year later, David Heinrich von Tschirnhaus , a brother of Friedrich, took possession of it by force. On April 26, 1618, David Heinrich von Tschirnhaus had to cede the rule of Schönfeld again to Johann Arbogast von Annenberg by imperial order. After the uprising of the estates in Bohemia shortly afterwards , Johann Arbogast, who was an avowed Catholic, was expelled from Schönfeld. Only after the re-possession of the County of Glatz by the imperial army was the rule of Schönfeld returned to him on April 29, 1623. Subsequently, the Lutheran preachers had to leave the villages of his rule.

On June 12, 1624, he acquired the Arnsdorf rulership from Archduke Karl, Bishop of Breslau, who was then the beneficiary of the County of Glatz , whose goods were confiscated from Heinrich von Ratschin (Raczin) because of his participation in the Bohemian uprising of 1618 . Already on December 14, 1624, the Arnsdorf fiefdom was inherited by Emperor Ferdinand II . He also bought the Mittelhof in Alt-Lomnitz from Archduke Karl in 1625 , the abandoned family estate of Wilhelm von Pannwitz (1594–1629) , who was forced to emigrate .

After the death of his wife Juliana von Damitz († 1625), Johann Arbogast married the baroness Marjana von Mettich, who died on May 8, 1630. His third marriage was to Barbara Katharina, nee Freiin von Trauttmansdorff .

Since the Imperial Army came to power, Johann Arbogast von Annenberg, as Colonel, was in command of Glatz . In February 1633 he was appointed governor of the County of Glatz and on February 26, 1636 he was raised to the rank of imperial count by Emperor Ferdinand II . He died in Glatz and was buried in the local parish church.

Heir of Schönfeld and Arnsdorf was his son Karl Heinrich Reichsgraf von Annenberg. He sold the Schönfeld estate in 1653 to Count Michael Ferdinand von Althann on Grulich , Mittelwalde and Wölfelsdorf , who married Johann Arbogast's widow Barbara Katharina. The rule of Arnsdorf came to Johann Friedrich von Herberstein in 1651 , who married Johann Arbogast's daughter Maria Maximiliane.
