Johann Berger (born July 23, 1999 in Rostock ) is a German football player . He is mostly used as a defensive midfielder. From summer 2019 he will be under contract with Holstein Kiel II .

Career

Johann Berger went through the youth departments at Hansa Rostock . As an A-youth he was used for the first time in the second team of Hansa Rostock in the Oberliga Nordost at the end of the 2016/17 season . On April 2, 2017 he made his debut in the game against FSV Optik Rathenow : He was used in the 1: 7 defeat over the entire season. In his second outing on May 14, 2017, he scored his first goal in the men's area; in the 8-2 win against FC Mecklenburg Schwerin , he scored the 3-0 in the 27th minute.

In addition to the league appearances in the second team, he made his debut in the first team at the regional cup quarter-finals against Greifswalder FC. He was replaced by coach Christian Brand in the 60th minute for Kerem Bülbül . The Rostock team won the match 3-2 on penalties. FC Hansa Rostock, and with it Johann Berger, won the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Cup in the 2016/17 season . He made his league and professional debut in the 2017/18 season under coach Pavel Dotchev , who replaced him on April 15, 2018 in the 0-0 draw against Karlsruher SC in the 86th minute for Amaury Bischoff . This was followed by further short appearances against Wehen Wiesbaden and Chemnitzer FC . Hansa coach Dotchev also considered the young Berger in the state cup. In the 2018/19 season, Berger gained experience mainly in Hansa's reserve team in the fifth-class league . Since Hansa also won the state cup at the end of the season, Berger became the state cup winner of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the third time in a row. After the end of the season Berger left FC Hansa and moved to the reserve of Holstein Kiel in the Regionalliga .
