from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann (Carl) Sigmund Haussdörffer (born August 10, 1714 in Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. , † March 15, 1767 in Tübingen ) was an organ builder in Württemberg.

life and work

Haussdörffer was born as the son of Gabriel Haussdörfer, who lived in Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. worked as an organ builder. His two other sons, David and Johann George, also became organ builders. Johann Sigmund emigrated from Saxony to Tübingen in 1740. He was probably influenced by Gottfried Silbermann , which is indicated by the similarity of the organ prospectuses of the Balingen town church (1767, Hausdörffer) and the town church in Rötha (1718–1721, Silbermann). His successor is his son-in-law Hans Rudigier (Rüdiger).

Haussdörffer built organs in various cities in the Württemberg region in the Rococo style . His last work was the organ in the town church of Balingen. He died in the year it was set up. A total of 18 new organs are ascribed to him. He is considered to be the inventor of the first documented register chest and the most important organ builder of the 18th century in Württemberg.
