Christian Tunica
Johann Christian Ludwig Tunica (born October 11, 1795 in Braunschweig ; † March 2, 1868 at Gutdeckehausen near Hamburg ), father of Hermann Tunica and Minna Tunica, was a German painter and daguerreotype .
Life
Tunica, the son of a master shoemaker and leather trader, completed an apprenticeship in a lacquerware manufacturer before studying in Dresden and Berlin, among others with JC Rössler. He settled in Braunschweig as a portrait and miniature painter. There he was appointed court painter by Duke Charles II in 1829. Tunica lists 716 paintings in an autograph index.
With the advent of photography, Tunica opened the first daguerreotype studio in Braunschweig.
