Johann Christoph von Wegnern (born September 22, 1702 ; † May 1, 1774 ) was a Prussian colonel and regiment chief of the Magdeburg Land Regiment .

Life

Johann Christoph came from the Prussian noble family von Wegnern . His parents were the heir to Malinowken and Krolawolla Daniel Ahasverus von Wegnern (1672–1708) and Marie Elisabeth von Buchholtz († 1733). Major General Georg Friedrich von Wegnern (1729–1793) was his nephew. Like most of his male relatives, he joined the Prussian Army and served as an officer . He is said to have already served as a colonel in the “Bonin” infantry regiment. On January 16, 1757 he became the owner of the Magdeburg Land Regiment, which was given the name “Alt-Wegnern” to distinguish it from the “Jung-Wegnern” militia regiment. Wegnern married Luise Katharina von Graevenitz (* 1727), daughter of the infantry general David Jürgen von Graevenitz (1680–1757) in 1746 . Children are not known from this marriage. On June 24, 1764, together with his wife, he acquired the East Prussian Liekeim estate near Bartenstein for 12,050 thalers .
