Johann Daniel Denso
Johann Daniel Denso (born December 24, 1708 in Neustettin ; † January 4, 1795 in Wismar ) was a German linguist and natural scientist and high school teacher. He made a contribution to natural research and education in Pomerania and Mecklenburg .
Life
In 1731 Johann Daniel Denso was appointed professor of “style and eloquence” at the Gröning College in Stargard . In 1751 he moved to the Academic Gymnasium in Stettin , where he was professor of eloquence and poetry. Two years later he went to Wismar, where he became rector of the Great City School on February 9, 1753 and held this office until 1793.
24 writings by Denso on ancient language and scientific questions are known. This includes several translations, including works by Pliny the Elder and Johan Gottschalk Wallerius . He also published scientific series and was editor of the weekly magazine "One hour for pleasure".
