Johann Daniel von Kreber (born October 13, 1719 in Glückstadt , † March 24, 1790 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish lieutenant general .

Life

Kreber was a son of the Danish lieutenant , and later captain Daniel von Kerber († 1760) and Catharina Dorothea Freiers (1697-1754).

He began his career in 1739 and 1741 as an ensign in the infantry, then switched to the Royal Guard on foot. By 1769 he was promoted to colonel and regimental commander . So he became owner of the Delmenhorster Regiment on June 14, 1769 . In 1774 he accompanied Prince Carl of Hesse to Norway . He rose further, in 1777 to major general and in 1789 to lieutenant general. On the recommendation and instigation of Prince Carl von Hessen, Kreber also became inspector general of the line infantry in Denmark.

Kreber married Benedicta Eleonora Gedde (1726–1783), a daughter of the future Danish major general Samuel Christoph Gedde (1691–1766) and Marie Elisabeth Pechernaut de le Remière (1705–1751) in Copenhagen in the summer of 1751 . The marriage produced at least one son:
