Johann Friedrich Laves

Johann Friedrich Laves (* 1734 in Landwehrhagen near Münden; † 1818 ) was the chief master builder in Kurhannover .

Life

His parents were Johann Henrich Laves and Henriette Jussow. His brother, the pastor Ernst Friedrich Laves (1731-1804) was the father of Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves .

In 1752 he began studying mathematics in Göttingen. He initially lived in Ratzeburg. In 1778 he was employed as a commissioner for coupling in Lauenburg and in 1779 became a conductor under Oberlandbaumeister Otto Heinrich von Bonn († 1785). In 1786 he was appointed agricultural master builder as his successor and was in charge of parts of the second agricultural district (Lauenburg, Dannenberg, parts of Lüneburg). In 1791 the classicist St. Petri Church was built in Ratzeburg according to his plans . In 1796 he was promoted to Oberlandbaumeister and in 1818 he retired.

He married his cousin Eleonore Elise Jussow (* 1748). Her sons studied physics with Lichtenberg. Georg Friedrich Laves (1775-1852) was ao agricultural manager in Bardowick in 1802 and master builder in Lüneburg and Bardowick from 1818-1845. Friedrich Heinrich Laves (1777–1849) became saline inspector in Lüneburg.
