Johann Friedrich Mieg (historian)

Johann Friedrich Mieg (also Johannes Friedrich Mieg the Younger ; born October 25, 1700 in Marburg , † April 23, 1788 in Heidelberg ) was a German historian and Reformed church official .

Life

Mieg came from a wide area, which originally from Strasbourg family Mieg . He was the son of the theology professor Ludwig Christian Mieg and grandson of the theology professor Johann Friedrich Mieg the Elder . He was matriculated at Heidelberg University in September 1714 and moved to Marburg University in April 1715 . In November 1718 he returned to Heidelberg University, where he obtained a master's degree in philosophy .

On January 26, 1722, Mieg received a position as associate professor of the Hebrew language at the University of Heidelberg. On May 7, 1748, he moved to the Electoral Palatinate Marriage Court in Heidelberg, whose director he became on April 10, 1771. He received the title of councilor .

The theology professor Johann Kasimir Mieg was his brother.
