Johann Friedrich Trautschold (born July 8, 1773 in Pößneck ; † May 5, 1842 in Lauchhammer ) was a senior factor, smelter and company writer at the Lauchhammer ironworks. As a promoter of plastic iron casting, he worked closely with Daniel Rauch , Ernst Rietschel, and other sculptors. Ernst Rietschel married Trautschold's daughter Albertine (February 11, 1811 in Pulsnitz - July 11, 1834 in Dresden).

Life

He was the school principal's son. At the age of 14 he came as an apprentice to a cutting and wool shop in Querfurt , and in 1795 as a clerk in Schwägrigen's shop in Leipzig . “When he heard that his grandfather, the electoral mountain master Glasses zu Großkamsdorf, was going to propose a controller for the Lauchhammer ironworks, he had the inkling that this would give him a new one, as he saw little prospect of becoming a freelancer without real fortune in the merchant class and a more appropriate career would be opened to the quick decision to apply for this position. ”In 1796 he took the place of Samuel Clormuss. He began to set up a more orderly commercial bookkeeping system, but was also interested in the natural sciences and suggested numerous improvements. In 1798 he became an accountant and after Lohrisch was dismissed, he took over the management of the Lauchhammer and Burghammer factories. In 1801 he was appointed chief factor.

In November 1800 he founded the hut festivals with a torchlight procession from Lauchhammer to Mückenberg. On July 13, 1802, in Wittenberg , he married the fiancée of his deceased friend, Jakobine Henriette Ernestine Wiesand (June 18, 1781 - September 22, 1845 ). In 1805 the management of the plants was passed on to the principal's son, Detlev von Einsiedel . However, Trautschold remained in a leading position in the company and wrote the "History and Celebration of the First Century of the Lauchhammer Ironworks", in which he also goes into the improvements he made.

Trautschold had two sons and six daughters. One of the daughters married the hut manager George in 1820, another his colleague JG Alex. His son Eduard worked at his side as an assistant. In 1832 he celebrated the “shamrock wedding” of three of his children. In 1832 he handed over the management of the plants to his son-in-law, the chief smelter Alex.
