Johann Friedrich von Schaesberg

Johann Friedrich Graf von Schaesberg (born June 10, 1705 in Düsseldorf ; † September 5, 1775 ) began a political career as Jülich's Land Commissioner and switched to the clerical profession. He became provost in Paderborn and canon in Hildesheim and Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Johann Friedrich Graf von Schaesberg grew up as the son of the Electoral Palatinate Oberhofmeister Johann Friedrich von Schaesberg zu Krickenbeck (1663–1723) and his wife Maria Mechthild von Schöler together with his brother Johann Wilhelm (1696–1768, Chancellor in Jülich and Berg) in the noble family of Schaesberg on. His great-grandfather Johann Friedrich Freiherr von Schaesberg (1598–1671) was governor of Elector Johann Wilhelm and married to Ferdinande von Wachtendonck. This is how the family came into possession of Krickenbeck Castle . In 1705 the family was by the emperor in the imperial counts charged. Johann's nephews Franz Ferdinand von Schaesberg and Karl Franz von Schaesberg were also canons.

Act

As his father's successor, Johann became bailiff of Blankenheim on September 16, 1723 and chamberlain of the Palatinate on June 8, 1724 . Appointed Jülich Land Commissioner on September 30, 1726 , he spontaneously gave up his political career and took a tonsure in Roermond to prepare for a spiritual life. In 1728 he received from the canon Jobst Matthias von Twickel the Dompräbende and was canon to Hildesheim . He studied from June 20, 1731 to August 8, 1732 in Paris and completed a biennium , which was necessary for a spiritual career. In 1734 renounced Johann in Hildesheim in favor of the canon Franz Egon von Furstenberg , who gave him this in his capacity as Turnar in Münster a Dompräbende awarded. As a canon in Paderborn , he was elected cathedral dean on November 4, 1739 . Three years later he became provost here. In 1757 he was elected President of the Privy Council of the Principality of Paderborn .
