Karl Franz Maria Graf von Schaesberg (born May 27, 1734 in Düsseldorf , † January 25, 1800 in Paderborn ) was canon in Hildesheim , Münster and Paderborn .

Life

Origin and family

Karl Franz Maria Graf von Schaesberg grew up as the son of Johann Wilhelm von Schaesberg (1696–1768, Chancellor in Jülich and Berg) and his wife Rosa Veronica Magdalena von Westerholt zu Lembeck together with his brother Franz Ferdinand in the noble family von Schaesberg . In 1705 the family was by the emperor in the imperial counts charged. His grandfather Johann Friedrich Freiherr von Schaesberg (1598–1671) was governor of Elector Johann Wilhelm and married to Ferdinande von Wachtendonck. This is how the family came into possession of Krickenbeck Castle .

Act

On December 31, 1747, Karl Franz received a tonsure and was prepared for a spiritual life. In 1752 he took over from his uncle, the provost Johann Friedrich von Schaesberg that Dompräbende in Paderborn . He was ordained as a subdeacon on March 19, 1757. This was followed by studies in Dijon specializing in canon law . In 1760 he also received a prebend from his uncle in Münster . On March 17, 1784, after the death of Johann Wilhelm von Bourscheidt, he became the owner of the archdeaconate Stadtlohn. Karl Franz was canon and cathedral treasurer in Paderborn in 1790 and also became canon in Hildesheim in the same year, where he renounced in 1792 in favor of his nephew Heinrich Edmund .

Awards

On November 13, 1778, Karl Franz was appointed to the Privy Council by the Elector .
