Johann Georg Engisch (* 26. May 1668 in Kirn , † 1742 in Kirn) was a German painter of the Baroque . Engisch was court painter at the Palatine court in Birkenfeld. In addition, he designed various churches in the Wild and Rhine County. Between 1849 and 1862 he taught at grammar school as a draftsman , painter and jewelry designer .

Life

Johann Georg Engisch was the son of Martin Engisch, a trained bricklayer who had to flee from Neukirch in Graubünden around 1660 due to his Lutheran faith from the reformed Engadin and immigrated to Kirn. He worked as a painter for numerous churches in the Hunsrück and was active for Count Christian II of Pfalz-Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld .
