Johann Gottlieb Breyer

Johann Gottlieb Breyer (born December 25, 1715 in Stuttgart ; † January 25, 1796 there ) was a German administrative lawyer and privy councilor .

Life

Breyer studied law at the University of Tübingen . He then traveled to Germany, France , England , Hungary and the Netherlands . In 1740 he became a lieutenant in the Austrian military and rose to become both captain and auditor . In 1745 he returned to Württemberg. There he was Councilor and private secretary. He became known after 1782 for his treatise Elementa Juris Publici Wirtembergici, Atque Serenissimorum Ducum Privati .

Breyer was appointed Privy Legation Councilor in 1788 , and in 1792 he was promoted to a member of the Privy Council with the same title.

The law professor Johann Christoph Friedrich Breyer was his son, the philosophy professor Johann Friedrich Breyer his nephew.
