Johann Graf (composer)
Johann Graf , also Graaf or Graff (* after March 26, 1684 in Nuremberg ; † February 2, 1750 in Rudolstadt ) was a German composer .
Life
Johann Graf was initially an orchestral musician and then came to Hungary as an oboist for theöffelholtz Regiment . In 1718 he entered the service of the Elector of Mainz , then the Bishop of Bamberg , as a Hautboist and violinist . In 1723 he became concert master and in 1739 court orchestra master with Prince Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .
Graf composed twelve melodically very appealing violin sonatas . In addition, the nine-part motet In convertendo has come down to us.
Two of his six sons, Christian Ernst Graf and Friedrich Hartmann Graf , also emerged as composers.
