Johann Hofbauer (born January 24, 1950 in Kleinpertholz ; † March 17, 2020 in Thaures ) was an Austrian laboratory manager and politician ( ÖVP ). From 1993 to 2016 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Life

After primary and secondary school, Johann Hofbauer attended the Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg and passed his Matura there. From 1971 he worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA and then worked in banking, the agricultural industry and most recently as laboratory manager of the milk testing ring in Lower Austria. From 1980 to 1987 Hofbauer was also active as an employee works council at Agrana.

On March 17, 2020, he had a fatal accident in a forestry accident.

politics

He was initially politically active in the Young People's Party whose local party chairman he was from 1968 to 1970 in Heidenreichstein . In 1990 he was elected to the Gmünd municipal council. In 1998 he took over the office of chairman of the transport committee.

Hofbauer was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from June 7, 1993 to January 27, 2016 . Since 2000 he has held the position of deputy chairman of the club. In the state elections in 2008 he was the top candidate of the ÖVP in the Gmünd district . On January 28, 2016, Margit Göll was sworn in as the successor to Johann Hofbauer as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament.
