Johann Jakob Joseph Kirschbaum
Johann Jakob Joseph Kirschbaum (born January 23, 1721 in Worms ; † June 7, 1804 in Heidelberg ) was a lawyer and full professor of law at the University of Heidelberg .
Live and act
He was born as the son of Johann Bonifaz Kirschbaum and his wife Maria Anna geb. Hard. The father apparently worked as a reader (legal clerk) at the Reich Chamber of Commerce in Wetzlar from 1725 .
Johann Jakob Joseph Kirschbaum studied law and obtained his licentiate in 1746 from Professor Johann Philipp Hahn (1690–1774) at the University of Mainz .
From 1749 worked as a cherry lawyer at the Imperial Chamber of Wetzlar, in 1757 he was appointed as a full professor of legal studies at the University of Heidelberg, at the same time he was the Electoral Palatinate Privy Councilor . In Heidelberg, Johann Jakob Joseph Kirschbaum belonged to the philosophical faculty until 1761 and taught natural and international law. From 1761 to 1804 he taught various legal matters at the law school.
Since 1758 Professor Kirschbaum was one of the members of the Heidelberg Pactum Marianum , the brotherhood of the Jesuit Sodals .
He has authored various legal treatises that have appeared in print. 1765, 1772, 1778, 1783, 1788, 1793 and In 1798 Kirschbaum acted as dean of the Heidelberg Faculty of Law, 1796 a. 1797 as rector of the university. He also held the title of Imperial Palatine Count .
Family and offspring
Johann Jakob Joseph Kirschbaum married Maria Johanna Antonia Hennemann in 1757, after her death in 1766, in the same year, Maria Anna Otto (1744–1814). The professor had a total of seven sons and four daughters. The son Joseph Franz Anton von Kirschbaum (1758–1848) received the title of nobility and was the tutor of the future King Ludwig I of Bavaria . Anton Maria Joseph Nepomuk Kirschbaum (1775–1853), another son, became a Bavarian lieutenant general ; his grandson was Maximilian von Kirschbaum (1862-1916), Bavarian major general and commander of the 6th Bavarian Infantry Division .
