Heinrich Matthias Zöpfl (born April 6, 1807 in Bamberg ; † July 4, 1877 in Heidelberg ) was a German lawyer and specialist author .

Life

Zöpfl was the son of the appellate judge Johann Baptist Zöpfl and his wife Catharina nee Pflaum. Zöpfl, who was a Catholic denomination, married Anna Bernhardina Leo on October 21, 1832 in Bamberg (born June 3, 1805 in Weismain; † November 10, 1878 in Heidelberg), the daughter of the district judge Joseph Leo.

Zöpfl attended high school in Bamberg and studied from 1823 in Würzburg and Heidelberg . In 1827 he was awarded Dr. jur. obtained his doctorate and habilitation in 1828 as a private lecturer in law at the University of Heidelberg. In 1839 he was appointed professor of constitutional law there. He became the dean of the law school. During the March Revolution he was the vice president of the university. In 1845 he was appointed Privy Councilor. 1874 Privy Councilor. In 1850 he was a member of the state house of the Erfurt Union Parliament . From 1850 to 1856 he was a member of the Baden First Chamber as a representative of Heidelberg University .
