Johann Karl Heinrich von Zobel (born July 18, 1773 in Gröppendorf , † September 7, 1849 in Borna ) was a German Lutheran theologian and honorary citizen of Borna.

Life

The son of the Anhalt-Koethen Chamber and Jagdjunker, later councilor in Wurzen Heinrich Adolf Siegmund von Zobel and Caroline Amalie Hedwig (née Buda), was tutored as a weak child by private tutors. On April 18, 1787, he moved into the electoral state high school in Grimma , which was then under the direction of the rector Johann Heinrich Mücke . Since he fell ill on September 29, 1791, he had to leave high school, where he was issued a certificate that enabled him to continue his education at a university. After recovering from health, he went to the University of Wittenberg on May 1, 1792 to study theology.

His teachers were Johann Matthias Schröckh in history, Johann Georg Karl Klotzsch in philosophy, Johann Gottlieb Drasdo (1753-1819), Karl Ludwig Nitzsch , Christian Friedrich Matthäi , Friedrich Wilhelm Dresde , Wilhelm Traugott Krug , Michael Weber (theologian) and Johann August Görenz (1763-1836). Guided by these, on October 18, 1793, he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. In 1795 he completed his theological exam in Dresden and returned to Wittenberg, where he obtained permission to read for universities as a Magister legens on September 14, 1795 and became an adjunct of the Wittenberg Faculty of Philosophy on September 24, 1795 .

He read about logic, exegesis, the Old and New Testaments. Since he wanted to give theological lectures, he acquired the bachelor's degree in theology on April 10, 1797 . However, since an academic career seemed less and less interesting to him, he applied for a pastorate in Wiederau , which he received in December 1798 after the trial sermon. After his ordination on December 12, 1792 in the town church of Wittenberg , he took office on January 31, 1799. When he had made a name for himself in literature, he applied for the position of superintendent in Borna in 1807 . After holding trial sermons in Dresden and Borna, he took up the position on March 20, 1808. In 1817 he received his doctorate in theology from the University of Leipzig . On June 19, 1835, he became an extraordinary assessor at the state consistory and on August 25, 1836, an honorary citizen of the city of Borna.
