Johann Ludolf Bünemann

Johann Ludolf Bünemann (also Johann Ludolph Buenemann ; born June 24, 1687 in Calbe (Saale) , † July 1, 1759 in Hanover ) was a German classical philologist and literary historian .

Life

Bünemann received his first training at the Calber School . Then he went to the school in Salzwedel , then to Magdeburg for further education . In 1706 he began studying at the University of Halle before becoming a teacher at the Pädagogium Halle in 1708 . In 1712 he followed a call as rector at the Minden high school and as a librarian at the Minden government library.

Bünemann went to Hanover in 1739. There he became rector of the Hannover City School . In the meantime he had bought a library with a volume of around 8,000 volumes bit by bit, but had to sell some of it again in order to be able to support his family.

The lawyer and writer August Rudolph Jesaias Bünemann was his son.
