Johann Meixner (sculptor)
Johann Meixner (born January 3, 1819 in Rothfloß ( Červený Potok , now part of Králíky ) in Bohemia , † August 23, 1872 in Gleichenberg in Styria ) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Johann Meixner studied from 1841 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna , in 1847/1848 and 1854/1855 in Rome . In 1851 he married Eleonore Hartung, daughter of Christoph Hartung . He was one of the founding members of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1861.

In his works the transition between late classicism and historicism can be traced, as can be found in numerous places on Vienna's Ringstrasse . In 1865 he made the life-size portrait statue of Johann von Aldringen for the Feldherrenhalle of the Army History Museum . The Danubius Fountain on Albertinaplatz in Vienna , the statues of Emperor Maximilian, Emperor of Mexico , Field Marshal Radetzky , the composer Franz Liszt and the poet Friedrich Schiller in Vienna are also by Johann Meixner.
