Johann Nepomuk Raimann , from 1826 Edler von Raimann , from 1840 Knight von Raimann , (born May 20, 1780 in Freiwaldau, today Jeseník , † March 8, 1847 in Vienna ) was an Austrian physician.

Raimann studied medicine in Prague before he moved to Vienna for his studies and received his doctorate in 1804. As early as 1805, Raimann became supplent of the teaching post for general pathology, therapy and materia medica (teaching of medicines) at the University of Kraków and in 1807 rose to full professor of these subjects. After Krakow fell to the Grand Duchy of Warsaw in 1809 , he moved to the medical and surgical Joseph Academy in Vienna in 1810 as an Imperial Council and field staff doctor as well as professor of general pathology and materia medica .

In 1813 Raimann was promoted to professor at the medical clinic for surgeons at the University of Vienna , which he subsequently headed. In 1818 he took over the provisional management of the general hospital and the foundling house and was appointed director in 1820. Raimann held the position of director until 1829. After being appointed personal physician to Emperor Franz in 1829, Raimann was also Emperor Ferdinand I's personal physician from 1836 onwards. In 1837 he also took over the management of medical-surgical studies and was President of the medical faculty.

Raimann acted conservatively in his therapies, but met all expectations as director of the General Hospital, with the construction of a new bath and the establishment of clinics with an additional capacity of 500 beds under his direction. His writings were widespread among the students, and between 1837 and 1846 he was the head of the publications of the Medical Yearbooks of the Austrian Imperial State, founded in 1811 and published by the Society of Doctors in Vienna .

Raimann, a son-in-law of the doctor Andreas Joseph von Stifft , received numerous honors throughout his life and was knighted in 1840. He died in Vienna on March 8, 1847. Franz Ritter von Raimann , the judge and numismatist, is his son.

In 1910, Raimannstraße in Vienna- Penzing (14th district) was named after him.
