Johann Questwicz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann (Hans) Questwicz was a Dresden councilor and mayor living in the 15th century .

Little is known about Questwicz's life. His ancestors probably came from the village of Kaisitz near Meißen, which was mentioned in a document in 1245 as Quaskewitz .

In 1430 Johannes Questwicz became a member of the council for the first time and took over the duties of the builder there. He was responsible for overseeing all important urban building projects as well as the administration of the city's own buildings, the stables and the brick barn outside the city walls . In 1439 he was elected mayor for the first time, as well as in 1442 and 1445. In 1448, after the death of the elected Hans Radeberg , who died before he took office, he took over the role of governing mayor. Questwicz was again mayor of Dresden in 1451 and 1454. In the following year he was named for the last time among the city councilors.
