Johann Rotger Torck

Johann Rotger Torck (* 1628 ; † September 5, 1686 in Münster ) was provost in Minden and vicar general and cathedral dean in Münster.

Life

Origin and family

Johann Rotger Torck came from the Westphalian noble family Torck . His father was Rotger Dietrich Torck zu Asbeck and Vorhelm, his mother Anna von Schencking zu Bevern. His sister Elisabeth was a canoness in Metelen. Anna Sophia (1636–1684, canon of Nottuln, ∞ Bernhard Wilhelm von Westerholt). His brother Steffen Dietrich (∞ von Reede) was master of Vornhelm and Asbeck. Johann Rotger was the nephew of Anna Sophia Torck , abbess at Nottuln Abbey .

Act

At the age of nine, Johann Rotger received a tonsure and was thus prepared for a spiritual life. He received the minor orders on August 15, 1645. He attended the Collegium Germanicum in Rome . In 1657 he became canon in Paderborn . His election to the cathedral provost in Minden fell in 1659. From 1674 he was cathedral dean in Münster and here from 1683 until his death in 1686 vicar general . Johann Rotger was at the same time provost of the St. Martini monastery in Münster and owned by the archdeaconate Stadtlohn and Warendorf.
