Johann Stegner (born December 20, 1866 in Frohnlach , † January 7, 1954 in Coburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Johann Stegner, son of a construction worker, grew up in Scheuerfeld . He did an apprenticeship as a brewer and then went on a journey of several years . At first he worked as a brewer until he leased an inn in Coburg in 1900. In 1903, Stegner was a co-founder of the Coburg consumer association . In 1909 he became a board member and full-time treasurer at the consumer association. He worked there until his retirement in 1932. In addition, he worked from 1906 to 1917 as chairman of the Coburg union cartel.

Around 1890 Johann Stegner joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany, for which he ran in the elections to the Coburg state parliament in 1908 and 1912. In November 1918 he became chairman of the Coburg workers' council and, after the election on February 9, 1919, moved into the Coburg state assembly as a member of the SPD. He was its member until the dissolution (as a result of the unification of the Free State of Coburg with the Free State of Bavaria ) on June 30, 1920. From March 19, 1920 until the by-election on November 7, 1920, initially in an advisory capacity, he represented the Coburg region with Hermann Mämel and Hans Schack in the Bavarian state parliament .
