Johann Stockhammer (born September 4, 1960 in Laufen , Upper Bavaria ) is a German designer and professor of fashion design at Pforzheim University .

Life

Stockhammer grew up in Fridolfing- Eberding, a small village in the Traunstein district . After graduating from high school and training as a ladies' and men's tailor , he attended the Müller & Son Academy for Fashion and Patterns in Munich. At the same time, he worked at Chamara from 1983 as design assistant to the owner Albert Fuchs. Stockhammer played a key role in Chamara receiving the Munich Fashion Prize in 1984. For this reason he was able to take over the artistic direction of the master class at the Munich master school for fashion for the upcoming collection .

In 1986 he left Chamara and after a six-month break in Italy became the first assistant to the Munich fashion designer Manfred Schneider. After his death, he took over the position of chief designer there in 1988; From then on the collection was called “Manfred Schneider by Johann Stockhammer”.

In 1993 Stockhammer set up his own Johann Stockhammer collection in Munich , which he showed in Düsseldorf , Paris and Tokyo and was immediately able to position successfully internationally. In 1994/95 he took over the artistic direction of the master class at the master school for fashion in Munich for a year.

At the end of the millennium, Stockhammer dissolved his company in Munich and moved to Tuscany - first to Moncioni, province of Arezzo , and later to Figline Valdarno , province of Florence. From spring 2000 to 2008 he was creative director of the German-Italian leather and fashion brand Etienne Aigner . He was largely responsible for their repositioning and forced participation in the shows of the Milano Moda Donna in Milan. He also showed the Aigner collections in extraordinary international shows such as 2004 on the Bund in Shanghai, 2006 the Cavenagh Bridge in Singapore , 2007 the Golden Hall in Beijing .

In 2008 he went back to Germany. Since then he has lived in Munich, works as a creative consultant and teaches at Pforzheim University . There he took over the professorship for fashion design womenswear / menswear in 2008 and is head of the fashion and accessory design course.
