Johann Streiff von Lauenstein

Johann (Jean Reimbert) Streiff von Lauenstein , also Jean Reinberg de Streiff and Jean Reinberg d'Estreffe (* 1610 in Metz ; † April 28, 1697 in Berlin ) was a major general in Brandenburg who had previously served as an officer in French and Swedish services would have.

Life

origin

The Streiff von Lauenstein family came from the Vosges and once lived in Löwenstein Castle , which was destroyed in the 14th century.

His parents were Johann Streiff († 1632), Herr von Kalzenau , and his wife Marie Hermane von Wrede from the Schellenstein family. His father was a Swedish lieutenant general of the cavalry and French major general of the foreign troops (troupes étrangères).

Military career

Lauenstein was already Maréchal de camp when the Edict of Nantes was revoked. He then left France and entered the service of Brandenburg . On October 14, 1686, Elector Friedrich Wilhelm appointed him major general and commander of the Frankfurt (Oder) fortress . A year later, in 1687, he was with the elector when his son Ludwig was buried. He was an important representative of the Huguenots in Berlin.

family

He was married several times. His first wife was Anne Marie von Endingen in 1634. After her death he married Judith de Chelandre († 1669) on March 5, 1642. From these marriages survived:

  • Elisabeth (first marriage), ⚭ 1644 Nicolas de Pille
  • Frédéric (second marriage) (1658–1706), lord of Bacourt , returned to France and became a Catholic, ⚭ Thérèse Guyot

After the death of his second wife, on May 31, 1673, he married Suzanne le Chèvenix de Béville (1635–1729), sister of the councilor Benjamin le Chènevix of Béville.
