Johann Fück
Johann W. Fück (born July 8, 1894 in Frankfurt am Main ; † November 24, 1974 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German orientalist .
From 1913 he studied classical and Semitic philology at the universities of Halle , Berlin and Frankfurt . From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the German National People's Party DNVP . His doctorate took place in Frankfurt in 1921, where he taught at the Oriental Seminary from 1921 to 1930 ( Hebrew ) and 1935 to 1938 ( Arabic and Islamic studies ) and also completed his habilitation in 1929.
In the meantime, from 1930 to 1935, he was a professor at Dhaka University .
In 1938 Fück went to the University of Halle, where he stayed until his retirement in 1962. In Halle he was also director of the library of the German Oriental Society . Since 1948 he was a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences .
