Johann Wilhelm Michaelis
Johann Wilhelm Michaelis (* 1677 in Jüterbog or Wittenberg , † December 19, 1736 in Stargard ) was a German engraver .
Life
Johann Wilhelm Michaelis received his training in Hamburg , where he also initially worked. Via Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder) he finally came to Stargard in Pomerania in 1707 , where he acquired citizenship in July 1727 and married.
In 1706 he engraved a map of Frankfurt (Oder) based on a model by Leonhard Christoph Sturm . He created 22 copper plates for the chronicle and past Pomeranian church history of Stargard general superintendent Günter Heyler . The chronicle, however, remained unprinted. Around 1720 he created a map of Pomerania, which is now kept at the University of Greifswald .
Johann Wilhelm Michaelis was buried in the Stargarder Heilig-Geist-Kirche .
