Johann von Andrássy (* 1750 in Székesfehérvár ; † December 15, 1817 ibid) was a Hungarian military .

Life

At the age of 18, Johann von Andrássy joined the Kuk Hussar Regiment "Count Nádasdy" No. 9 . In 1771 he came as a sub-lieutenant in the Esterhazy hussar regiment number 3 , where he was promoted to first lieutenant in seven years and finally to Rittmeister in 1783 . On October 4, 1793, he led the attack near Colichy , in which 30 men were injured, two dragoons were captured and five horses were kidnapped. Furthermore, von Andrássy distinguished himself on October 20 with Aniche and on November 29 with Auberchicourt , also on June 26, 1794 with Orchies. From May 1797 he was a major , and two years later he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. In particular, he distinguished himself at Breisach on April 27, 1800. At Friedberg he commanded the outposts on June 20 , with which he captured 46 hussars, a commander, two officers and 20 other people. He also made sure that the army could withdraw from Hague on December 4th with minor losses. In recognition of these deeds, he became a colonel and regimental commander of the Kuk Hussar regiment "Graf von Hadik" No. 3 in 1801 . Promoted to major general, he had to retire in 1803 because of his war wounds. He was awarded the Military Maria Theresa Order and died on December 15, 1817 in his hometown of Székesfehérvár.
