Johann von Löben

Johann von Löben (mostly Johann von Loeben, also Hans von Löben) (* 1561 ; † July 26, 1636 in Blumberg (Barnim) ) was electoral chancellor of the Mark Brandenburg .

Life

He married on November 22, 1599 in Neustadt Margarete von Winterfeld (* 1583, † November 2, 1662), the sister of the director of the College of Secret State Councilors Samuel von Winterfeld .

In 1604, Elector Joachim Friedrich founded the so-called Secret Council , which consisted of eight members, as a round of ministers at his court . Johann von Löben was appointed to this council as chancellor and he stayed there until 1609.

Johann von Löben is best known as the owner of various goods around Berlin . In 1602 he bought the town of Blumberg and built a castle there a year later. In 1618 he bought Hellersdorf and incorporated it into his manor district in Blumberg. Other possessions are parts of Ahrensfelde , Neuenhagen and Dahlwitz .

von Löben had several children with his wife.

In 1900 he was given a monument bust in the Berlin Tiergarten , which shows him as a side monument next to the central statue of Elector Joachim Friedrich. The monuments come from the sculptor Norbert Pfretzschner and were part of monument group 22 in Siegesallee .
