Johanna Tecklenborg
Johanne-Catharina Tecklenborg (born June 6, 1851 in Bremerhaven , † May 11, 1933 in Munich ) was a German painter .
life and work
Tecklenborg was the second daughter of the shipbuilder and shipyard owner Johann Carl Tecklenborg (1820–1873) and his wife Sophie (née Ehlers, 1827–1910). She was a student of Theodor Her and mainly painted landscapes and still lifes , with which she could make a name for herself. Your pictures are still traded in auctions today. Later, living in Munich, like many of her contemporaries, she campaigned for the training of women artists. She taught at the Munich female artists' association and was temporarily in charge of the association. She resigned the chairmanship and participation in the committee due to the behavior of some members in 1904. Her career as an artist is typical for a daughter from a “middle-class” house in Bremerhaven.
In the same year , the Kunstverein Bremerhaven , newly founded in 1886, presented works by Tecklenborg in its first exhibition.
