Johannes Bänziger
John Bänziger (* 15. April 1804 in Wolfhalden ; † 26. November 1840 in Lutzenberg AR ; heimatberechtigt ibid ) was a Swiss textile entrepreneurs and industrialists from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .
Life
Johannes Bänziger was a son of Johannes Bänziger, local councilor , and Elsbeth Hohl. He attended the Krüsi educational establishment in Yverdon from around 1819 to 1823. He then completed a commercial apprenticeship in St. Gallen . With the help of his mother, Bänziger founded his own business in Lutzenberg. This soon became one of the most respected embroidery manufacturing and export companies . The weaving , finishing and finishing works employ around 150 people in the parent company . In addition, over 4,000 homeworkers worked in the production of the embroidery in Eastern Switzerland , Bavaria , Vorarlberg and Tyrol . In the 1830s, Bänziger founded a branch in Höchst (Vorarlberg) . In 1839 he received first prize at the Vienna Industrial Exhibition and permission to use the imperial Austrian eagle . After his death, Bänziger's sister and her later husband Johann Georg Euler continued to run the company .
