Johannes Conen

Johannes Conen (born September 12, 1944 in Venlo , the Netherlands ; † December 25, 2019 in Trier ) was a Dutch painter, stage and costume designer, video designer, director , scenographer and musician.

Life

Conen studied at the Academy Eindhoven . After completing his studies, he dealt with painting , conceived exhibitions and founded the Theater Mikroskoop in 1967, directed an ensemble that was free and experimental in theater in the broadest sense, staged, wrote plays and radio plays and worked as a set designer .

From 1976 Johannes Conen u. a. engaged as an actor at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and as a director and speaker in Nuremberg. Since 1985 he has worked as a scenographer, costume designer, video and lighting designer. Stations in German-speaking countries were, among others, the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen, Schauspiel Nürnberg, the Staatstheater in Oldenburg, Braunschweig, Wiesbaden, Karlsruhe and Darmstadt, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Oper Leipzig, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Salzburg Festival.

In autumn 2002 he was appointed professor for design in digital media at the Trier University of Applied Sciences . In 2005 he founded the "bbt Bewegungsbildtheater" with the actress Martina Roth.

From 2005 to 2008 he was the founding dean of the design department, a merger of five previous departments. In 2009–2014 he took over the subject of media scenography, theatrical and performative space.
