Johannes Herrmann (lawyer)

Johannes Herrmann (born March 25, 1918 in Amberg ; † April 8, 1987 in Munich ) was a German lawyer .

After his habilitation in 1955 for ancient legal history and civil legal history, he was initially an assistant and private lecturer at the University of Munich . In 1956 he took over a professorship in Kiel . From 1957 to 1958 he was an associate professor at the University of Innsbruck . From 1958 he was full professor for Roman law and German civil law as well as chairman of the institute for ancient legal history and papyrus research and co-director of the institute for legal history at the University of Erlangen . From 1966 to 1969 he was rector of the university. In 1986 he retired .

He was Secretary General of the Görres Society from 1967 to 1979 and a member of the Bavarian Senate from January 1, 1970 until his death .

His son is the CSU politician Joachim Herrmann . Since 1951 Herrmann was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Aenania Munich .
