Johannes Jungbauer

Johannes Jungbauer (* 1964 in Bad Mergentheim ) is a German psychologist and university professor who has been professor of psychology at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia in Aachen and head of the Institute for Health Research and Social Psychiatry (igsp) there since 2004 . In his specialist books he deals with topics such as schizophrenia and family psychology , but also with questions of grief counseling .

Life

Jungbauer completed a degree in psychology at the University of Trier between 1987 and 1994 and after completing this degree worked from 1994 to 1998 as an independent psychologist in the areas of counseling, further education and training. In addition, he completed between 1995 and 1997 and additional training to talk psychotherapists at Reinhard exchange at the Institute for Client-centered counseling and psychotherapy in Stuttgart and was also during this time research assistant at the University of Trier in the Department of Sociology of Roland Eckert .

After completing this activity, he switched to the University of Leipzig as a research assistant in 1998 , where he worked at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and the Department of Medical Psychology and Medical Sociology until 2004. In the meantime, took place in 2001 his doctorate Dr. phil. at the Free University of Berlin with the dissertation Living with a schizophrenic partner: a qualitative study of the situation of spouses and life partners of schizophrenic people .

Jungbauer, who is also a lecturer at the European Distance Learning University in Hamburg and at the University of Technology, Economics and Culture Leipzig (HTWK), received the research award of the German Society for Social Psychiatry (DGSP) in 2002 . From 2004 to 2006 he completed advanced training as a supervisor at the German Academy of Psychology in Bonn , the educational institution of the Professional Association of German Psychologists (BDP).

Since 2004 Jungbauer has held a professorship for psychology at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia in Aachen. In 2005 he completed his habilitation at the Medical Faculty of the University of Leipzig. In 2010 he founded the Institute for Health Research and Social Psychiatry (igsp) together with Albert Lenz from Paderborn and took over its management.
