Johannes Moesus (born October 8, 1955 in Northeim ) is a German conductor .

Life

After studying at the music academies in Hanover , Frankfurt am Main and Vienna with Karl Österreicher and Franco Ferrara , Moesus worked with many national and international orchestras, including a. with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR , with the Kaiserslautern Radio Orchestra of the SWR, with the Bern Symphony Orchestra , with the Spanish National Orchestra Madrid , with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne .

From 2012 to September 2019 he was chief conductor of the Bavarian Chamber Orchestra (BKO) in Bad Brückenau .

Since 2006 he has been working regularly with the NDR Choir and the Mecklenburg Baroque Orchestra “Herzogliche Hofkapelle” within the framework of the “Ludwigsluster Klassik” theme of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival .

Moesus has been chairman of the Rosetti Society since 1997 and artistic director of the Rosetti Festival in Ries, which he founded in 2000 . With this task he advocates the revival of works by Antonio Rosetti and his contemporaries of the early classical period.

Moesus is successfully involved in music education. As early as the early 1990s he presented lecture concerts and made a name for himself by hosting his own concerts. The long-term collaboration with the Göttinger Musikfreunde Orchestra (OGM) is also part of the music education commitment.
