Johannes Otto (also: Johann Otto ;; * before 1664 in Göttingen ; † December 11, 1691 in Hanover ) was a German high school director .

Life

Johannes Otto, who, according to other sources, was not born in Göttingen, but in Bodungen in Schwarzburg, was after his training in the royal seat of Hanover in 1664, first subconrector, 1676 vice rector and finally on February 13, 1683 - as successor to Hermann Jacobi - Rector of the city ​​school of Hanover, the later Ratsgymnasium or Lyceum .

Johannes Otto died on the night of December 10th to 11th, 1691 and was buried the following week on December 18th.

His colleagues as well as the alumni of the first grade as Otto's pupils wrote various “ Leich-Carmina ” about the deceased rector . Otto's own works include the collective publication Iusta Funebria Serenissimo Principi Joanni Friderico Brunsvicensium Et Luneburge on the death of sovereign Johann Friedrich , written together with Leibniz and others, illustrated with copperplate engravings and published in 1685 .

It was not until February 3, 1692, that Justus Hoysenius († June 30, 1696) succeeded Otto as rector of the city school.
