Johannes Pelcking OFMConv (born September 16, 1573 in Münster , Westphalia , † December 28, 1642 in Paderborn ) was auxiliary bishop in Paderborn , Hildesheim and Münster .

Life

Pelcking joined the Order of the Minorites in 1591 and was ordained a priest on December 17, 1597 . First he worked as a preacher in Kleve , later as a guardian in Dortmund .

On 16 December 1619 it appointed Pope Paul V at the request of the Cologne Elector Ferdinand of Bavaria to the titular of Cardicium and ordered him auxiliary bishop in Paderborn, Hildesheim and Münster. He received the episcopal ordination on May 3, 1620 by the Cologne auxiliary bishop Otto Gereon von Gutmann zu Sobernheim . At the same time he became vicar general in Paderborn and Hildesheim.

He was a staunch opponent of Friedrich Spee's Cautio Criminalis and repeatedly expressed his "disgust" in letters to Franz Wilhelm von Wartenberg , the Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück.

In the Archbishop's Academic Library Paderborn (EAB Paderborn) there is a portrait of Johannes Pelcking under the serial number 1128.
